Notice is hereby given that ALEXIS NAKOTA SIOUX NATION has called a
By-Election on April 2, 2025 at the Alexis Community Hall in accordance with the
Customary Election Regulations (1997) for the purpose of electing (1) candidate to
serve the remaining term of office for the vacant Council Position.
Nomination forms for this position must be received by the Electoral Officer by
5:00 pm MST on March 19, 2025

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE NOMINATION

1. Any elector resident within a one hundred (100) kilometre radius of Alexis Indian Reserve #133 is eligible to be nominated for the position of Councillor.
2. Any employee of the First Nation must comply with the provisions of the Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation Personnel Policy, which require the taking of a leave of absence from the Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation or Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation owned corporation while running for office.
3. Any elector convicted of an indictable offence within five (5) years of Election Day is not eligible for Nomination to any position.
4. The nomination for the position of Councillor must be on a form obtained by the Electoral officer and must include 10 signatures from eligible electors and must also be signed by the nominee accepting their nomination.
5. The completed nomination form must also be accompanied by a non-refundable performance bond in the amount of Three Hundred ($300.00) Dollars payable to Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation by certified cheque or cash and a Canadian Police Information Centre (C.P.I.C) check or letter from the RCMP indicating no conviction of the nominee for an indictable offence with the prior five (5) years.
6. A candidate may withdraw their name from nomination by giving notice in writing to the Electoral officer not less than seventy-two (72) hours before Election Day. The notice shall be signed by the withdrawing candidate and witnessed by an elector of the First Nation.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE ELECTION

The By-election will be held on Wednesday April 2, 2025 at the Alexis Community Hall
from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. MST.
