The Nakota Crossing Petro Canada is looking for a highly motivated, responsible, and dedicated individual for the position of Store Manager. Under the general direction of the Chief Operations Officer, this individual will be responsible for the safe and profitable operations of the store and to oversee all day-to-day operational management.

Duties & Responsibilities

• To Manager all aspects of the operation and control of the various business units of the retail store including by not limited to the food services, petroleum purchase & sales, tobacco purchase & sales, ATM’s, Lottery Terminals and oversee various contractual agreements.
• To work closely with the staff in sharing information and expertise, so that the team clearly understands all aspects of the business.
• To manage the day-to-day requirement the retail store by:
  • Order inventory when required to ensure the shelves are restocked on a daily basis;
  • Ensure inventory counts are in place and establishing an organized system for receiving of stock is established;
  • Coordinate the collection of freight;
  • Provide top quality customer service by ensuring customers receive a positive, pleasant shopping/service experience;
  • Ensure the retail store operates in a safe, professional manner at all times and that all regulations and legislated standards are adhered to;
  • Work closely with staff in all applicable areas to ensure a full understanding of the Point of Sale (POS) System – giving advice, supervision and training to employees;
• To assist upper management in the public relations and communications of the company.
• To assist in the control of the operations by supervising sales, purchases, services, and contract work.
• To prepare reports and attend meetings of the Board of Directors when requested by upper management.
• To assist in the development, control and supervision of company credit, operation and personnel policies
• To schedule and supervise staff to ensure proper service is provided and financial targets are achieved.
• To assist in all human resource matters concerning hiring, training, appraising, promoting, demoting or dismissal of employees.
• As part of the management team, this position may be subject to irregular hours of work. Work scheduled may fluctuate based on the needs, requirements and the unique nature of the business environment.
• To perform all other duties as required from time to time as directed by the Chief Operating Officer

Employment Requirements

• Knowledge of computing software (Microsoft, QuickBooks, Accpac, Email and internet usage)
• Clear Criminal record
• Able to liaise with representatives of Petro Canada as required
• Driver’s License
• Follow dress code
• Two to three years retail management experience in fuel and food operations would be considered and asset.
• Knowledge and experience in a computerized environment, including the operation and administration of Point of Sale (POS) computer systems.
• Knowledge & experience of the AITE (Alberta Indian Tax Exemption) system(s) will be considered an asset
• Proficient in office software packages including word processing, spreadsheets, etc.
• Strong financial management skills including the ability to review and analyze financial statements.
• Ability to manage inventory levels, order stock and price products to achieve gross margin targets;
• Excellent people management skills including the ability to recruit, hire, train, motivate, evaluate, correct, develop, and increase staff performance in a cross-cultural environment.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• The ability to speak and/or write in Nakota would be considered an asset.

The Nakota Crossing Petro Canada is looking for a highly-motivated, responsible, and dedicated individual for the position of Accounting Clerk. Under the general direction of Finance Management, this individual will be responsible for overseeing the accounting processes and assisting with the financial management of the company.

Duties & Responsibilities

• To oversee the internal controls and accounting processes of the retail/fuel store and food services
• To ensure the validity of revenue recognition and cash reconciliations
• To process Accounts Payable; to ensure vendors are paid in a timely manner and to maintain filing system
• To monitor inventory controls; daily/monthly counts and receipt of inventory and to maintain filing system
• To monitor the inventory levels, stock orders, and pricing
• To monitor Accounts Receivable; to ensure receipts are received in a timely manner and to maintain filing system
• To ensure Payroll is processed and to maintain the Time & Attendance system
• To provide analysis and accounting reports as needed
• To assist with Month-End procedures
• To assist with Fiscal Year-End procedures
• To assist the Petro Canada Manager as needed

Employment Requirements

• Accounting Certificate or equivalent, Accounting Diploma or equivalent would be considered an asset
• 2-3 years of accounting experience (in the fuel and food industry would be considered an asset)
• Strong accounting skills including the ability to review and analyze financial data
• Proficient in office software packages including word processing, spreadsheets, etc.
• Knowledge of computing software (Microsoft, Sage Accpac, Email and internet usage)
• Knowledge and experience in a computerized environment, including the operation and administration of Point of Sale (POS) computer systems would be an asset
• Knowledge and experience with ADP payroll would be an asset
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Must adhere to company dress code and code of conduct
• Must provide a criminal record check
• The ability to speak and/or write in Nakota would be considered an asset
