Construction of Gas Bar
The Alexis Chief and Council, Federal & Provincial Representatives, Bank of Montreal Representatives, Community Elders and Members gathered for the official sod turning ceremony at the Thomas Potts business park. Construction is now underway.
The new gas bar is the result of a Band initiative to create employment opportunities and provide economic sustainability for Alexis. The Government of Canada has provided $878,520 in funding through the Community Opportunity Readiness Program, which helps Indigenous communities support economic development opportunities. The funds will be used for professional and technical services, as well as for economic infrastructure and capital costs.
